About Us“Early-career investigators” (ECIs) or early career researchers (ECRs) are typically assistant professors at research universities and hospitals who have held their positions for 8 years or less. ACECHR is a group of early-career investigators advocating for funding policies that would promote a sustainable research workforce and invest in future discovery and innovation in health research.
Our objectives are: 1. Advocate for increased, stable federal support for health research. 2. Promote policies that will support productive careers in health research. 3. Communicate the perspectives of early-career researchers to the government, funding agencies, research institutions, and public. |
Our History |
ACECHR formed in response to changes in federal funding programs for health and biomedical research. Compounded by years of declining research support in real dollars, these changes threaten the stability and long-term impact of Canadian health research by shifting resources away from new investigators.
